At Happy Healthy Puppy, we work hard to make sure that we get the message across loud and clear: never buy a puppy that came from a puppy mill.
The San Francisco SPCA and the Jullien Brothers and BBDO San Francisco have created a sweet and informative video about why you should never buy a puppy from a puppy mill.
The video’s adorably cute, but it also has a very serious message. It may be convenient to buy a puppy online (or at a local pet store), but many puppies sold on the internet, and in pet stores, come from puppy mills.
Puppy mills are just in the business of selling dogs. They don’t care about the health or well being of the puppies or their mothers. The moms are bred until they can’t have more puppies, and most often destroyed. Puppies and their mothers are often kept in small cages, and not nourished or watered properly.
If, like us, you’re surprised that puppy mills are still around, here are some of the reasons puppy mills still exist.
A lot of folks don’t know what’s behind the cute puppy in the window in a pet store, or pictured online. They’ve never heard of puppy mills, and don’t know the horrid conditions that dogs endure.
This video is a great way to spread the word.
