Can I get a Rottweiler if I have kids?

A few years back, my neighbor had a couple of Rottie pups.

They were the cutest thing ever!!!

Swore I'd get a Rottweiler if I ever got a dog. The problem is, I have a couple of kids (age 2 and 5). Can you have Rottie's with kids? Are they as mean as everyone says?
